Insects are a large component of his magic. He controls them, so he keeps a ready supply of them in his room.
[He has many other types. The crickets are the noisy ones.]
I can see it. Even in my turret, there were people always in and out, runners, ravens, soldiers. And the tavern was never far. This city reminds me more of Kirkwall, if it had been connected by public transportation.
[So many stairs.]
What was the most crowded place you ever spent time?
[He's not sure how that works but he can say that he finds it, well, creepy. Anyway...]
Most crowded, huh? [He thinks about that a moment.] Probably Seheron or some of those places in Orlais. Seheron especially felt crowded with how often there were battles.
[Especially because his magic had no interaction with the traces of lyrium left in his system, his first exposure to a completely different sort of magic.]
I'd take Denerim over any other large city I've been to. It's the only place with the proper number of dogs.
[He grins until it's subsumed behind taking another drink.]
So we can have you bring him over to play with Fenris and then you can come here and have drinks with me. Sounds like a great idea to me.
[Besides, he figures that Cullen could use more time like this. Just a chance to sit and drink with a friend.
Speaking of drinks, he pours more for both of them and finishes his glass in a single pull so he can refill it again. He had promised to push harder so he can get drunk with Cullen after all. He's gonna hold to that.]
That sounds good to me. I imagine at least sometimes Fenris will also want in on the drinks.
[He chuckles, leaning forward to make the refill easier.]
Thanks. I don't see why not. I probably won't get drunk every time. I'm not quite as young as I used to be. I never turn down decent wine and company, though.
He would. Probably Dorian too but if we don't want the cats fighting we should probably make sure it's different days.
[Bull chuckles at his own joke but really it's true. The last thing they need is alcohol helping to feed into the bickering when everyone's here to have fun.]

[He shakes his head, as if he had needed any proof this place was going to be a strange one.]
I can see that. Maker knows Kirkwall felt far more crowded whenever battle broke out within the city.
[Templars were trained for urban warfare on small scales, not invasions of Qunari or demons. He won't soon forget any of it.]
Val Royeaux was it for me. Too much in one place. It made Denerim seem provincial.

[Of course he lives with a guy who has a talent for necromancy. So is he going to hold bug magic against Cullen's Sub? Nope.]
Val Royeaux huh? Yeah I can see that. Especially with how that place just loved to have parties going on. I'd take Denerim though. Less stuffy.

And those mutts are impressive too. Next time you pop over bring yours around. I'll make sure there's meat.

[He takes a longer pull from his glass, visibly relaxing by the moment as he settles.]
I shall. He'll appreciate it. He enjoys spending time with Fenris, anyway.

We could make it a regular thing even.

You're looking good for your age there, old man.

[He likes his drinking genial.]
Well, having a very active mabari to train does wonders for not letting myself go.
[It's offered lightly. He thinks very little of his appearance most days. It has always been more about function than form.]
