"Mmm." It's deliberately noncommittal, the other eye cracking open to rest on him for a few. It's interesting, the small ways he deflects compliments or the faintest suggestion of them. If he were the sort to dig or pry, it's an inroad he'd explore.

He's grateful enough for his help that he doesn't want to risk alienating him. He closes both eyes again. His face is more relaxed than ever it is behind closed doors. "You'll have a place with us for as long as you want it."
